{"id":4828,"date":"2025-12-16T02:38:14","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T01:38:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cefoindigena.org\/equitable-origin-and-rita-work-on-connectivity\/"},"modified":"2025-12-16T02:38:14","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T01:38:14","slug":"equitable-origin-and-rita-work-on-connectivity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cefoindigena.org\/en\/equitable-origin-and-rita-work-on-connectivity\/","title":{"rendered":"Equitable Origin and RITA Work on Connectivity"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cefoindigena.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-11-21-at-11.27.53-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1388\" width=\"482\" height=\"642\"\/><figcaption>RITA and Equitable Origin analyze the Computer Center in Teotihuacan, State of Mexico<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.equitableorigin.org\/programs\/resources-hub\/\" target=\"_blank\">Resource Hub Project<\/a>&nbsp;activities in Mexico,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.equitableorigin.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Equitable Origin (EO)<\/a>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rita.com.mx\/\" target=\"_blank\">Red Ind\u00edgena de Turismo de M\u00e9xico Asociaci\u00f3n Civil (RITA)<\/a>&nbsp;signed a&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.equitableorigin.org\/2020\/08\/equitable-origin-eo-and-the-red-indigena-de-turismo-de-mexico-asociacion-civil-rita-partner-to-strengthen-indigenous-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cooperation Agreement<\/a>&nbsp;in July&nbsp;2020. The agreement outlines five workstreams to help strengthen Indigenous rights in Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.&nbsp;Promote and implement the Resource Hub in Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.&nbsp;Develop virtual courses to strengthen Indigenous rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.&nbsp;Prepare and distribute communication materials to provide relevant and up-to-date information on Indigenous rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4.&nbsp;Improve access to the internet and connectivity in rural settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5.&nbsp;Establish a network of experts to support communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, both organizations are working on&nbsp;<strong>Initiative 1<\/strong>&nbsp;to \u201cpromote and implement the Resource Hub in Mexico.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do so, during the last quarter of 2020, Equitable Origin and RITA participated in an online meeting with RITA\u2019s Council of Delegates and RITA\u2019s administrative team in November. At the convening, 12 of the 15 delegates who represent the General Assembly of RITA, were briefed on the Resource Hub project. Local collective forms were discussed for the Hub&#8217;s implementation around Mexico. The key takeaways from the meeting were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Resource Hub Platform is necessary and important to help strengthen indigenous rights and Peoples in Mexico.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The platform presents a unique opportunity to enable new forms of advocacy.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Platform allows Indigenous Peoples in Mexico to connect with other Indigenous communities in the Americas and the world.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Unanimously, the implementation of the Resource Hub Project in M\u00e9xico was approved by the group of delegates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cefoindigena.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-11-21-at-11.27.56-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1390\"\/><figcaption>Computer Center &#8211; Teotihuacan, State of Mexico<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of&nbsp;<strong>Initiative 4,<\/strong>&nbsp;to \u201cimprove access to the internet and connectivity in rural settings\u201d, Equitable Origin is supporting RITA\u2019s initiative to establish a Community Technology Training Center in Teotihuacan, located in the State of Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Equitable Origin and RITA visited&nbsp;Teotihuacan to meet with the surrounding communities and analyze the existing infrastructure for the Computer Center. The Computer Center would be set up in the community of San Francisco Mazapa, a strategic location where communities and Indigenous organizations often visit.
