
Equitable Origen (EO) and the Asociación Interétnica de Desarrollo de la Selva Peruana (AIDESEP) signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement on February 4th 2020. The meeting was held at the AIDESEP headquarters in Lima, Peru. EO was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Soledad Mills and on behalf of AIDESEP, President Lizardo Cauper Pezo and Delfina Catip Tawan were present to sign the agreement. AIDESEP is the spokesperson organization of the indigenous peoples of the Peruvian Amazon that works for the defense and respect of their collective rights.
The objective of the agreement is to generate joint workspaces between both organizations, and thus be able to implement programs and trainings that strengthens the rights of the indigenous communities in the Amazon region of Peru. These actions will allow for the development of the Free, Prior and Informed Consent tool – FPIC 360° tool as well as for the Centro de Fortalecimiento de los Derechos Indígenas.
