Monitoring the Colombian Amazon with Radar

We are pleased to present the vegetation structure map of the Colombian Amazon from 2007 to 2008. The map shows the distribution of different types of vegetation and flooded Amazonian territories in unprecedented detail through the innovative analysis of radar data. This map serves as a baseline for the observation and study of the Colombian Amazon. We hope the use and integration of this information by local actors will support management strategies and promote the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.

This map was developed by the Dutch company SarVision, experts in the management of radar images, and the Amazon Conservation Team Colombia (ACT), who have an organizational mission to integrate traditional and western knowledge to promote sustainable development and the protection of the environment. To visit the Tool please click on the following link:
