Within the framework of the Expanded Coordination Council of AIDESEP held in December, the Indigenous CEFO spoke with indigenous leaders about the main threats to the territory and the importance of the implementation of the Big Agenda of AIDESEP. We invite you to listen to Loydi Tangoa, Manuel Ramírez and Segundo Laureano.
Loydi Tangoa from Codepisam tells us about the main threats they face in the territory and what initiates are being designed in San Martín to counteract these threats.
Manuel Ramírez is president of OrpioAidesep and makes it clear that every day indigenous communities face illegal logging, land grabs, oil contamination, in addition to constant threats to Indigenous Peoples in voluntary isolation.
Segundo Laureano, vice president of the Federación Nativa del Río Madre de Dios y Afluentes (FENAMAD), pointed out that the main threat to the territory is illegal mining and that in response to this reality, they strengthened the communication systems in the communities, providing them with access to the internet and training in monitoring and early warnings in Madre de Dios.
From the Center for Strengthening the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (CEFO Indigena) we invite you to share this content widely.
